Terms of Service

The rules for using Vindraft, written in plain English. This is a real legal agreement, so please read it.

On this page

1. Agreement to these terms

Vindraft LLC ("Vindraft," "we," "us") runs vindraft.com. These terms are a contract between you and Vindraft. By using our site, you agree to them.

If you do not agree, please do not use Vindraft.

2. Who can use Vindraft

You must be at least 18 years old and able to form a legal contract. Vindraft is built for use in the United States. You must give a real, working email address.

3. Your account

Vindraft does not use passwords. You sign in with a one-time code we email to you. Keep access to your email safe, since anyone with access to your email can sign in as you.
Each email address gets one account. We store your email, the reports you have run, and your payment history through Stripe. We never see or store your full card number.
Your sign-in session lasts up to 30 days on a device before you need a new code.

4. What Vindraft does

Vindraft looks up a vehicle by its VIN or license plate and shows you what public and licensed sources say about it. Some parts of the report use free government data. Other parts need a licensed data source Vindraft has not connected yet, and we say so plainly on the report instead of guessing.

Right now, our reports pull real, live data from NHTSA (specs, open recalls, owner complaints, crash-test ratings). Title, accident, mileage, warranty, market-value and maintenance history are shown as "not yet connected" until we finish contracting those data sources. We will not show fake numbers in place of missing data.

Vindraft is an information tool. It is not a guarantee about any vehicle, and it is not a substitute for a mechanic's inspection.

5. How we share information

We do not sell your personal information. We share it only with:

  • Stripe, to process payments. Stripe has its own privacy policy for the payment details it handles.
  • Our email delivery provider, to send sign-in codes, reports and receipts.
  • Government agencies, only if the law requires it, such as a valid subpoena.

Looking up a VIN with NHTSA's public databases does not send your email or any personal information to NHTSA. It sends only the VIN itself, the same way it would for anyone using NHTSA's free public tools directly.

5. Pricing and payment

You can get a report two ways:

Plan Price What you get
Single report
$5.00, one time
Full report for one VIN
Membership
$1.00 due today for a 7-day trial, then $29.95 every 28 days
Up to 3 reports during the trial, then up to 30 reports every 28 days

Prices may include sales tax where required. All payments are handled by Stripe, a payment processor. Vindraft does not store your card number.

6. Free trial and automatic billing

The membership plan starts with a 7-day trial for $1.00. If you do not cancel before the trial ends, your card is charged $29.95 on day 8. After that, you are charged $29.95 every 28 days until you cancel.

By checking the box at checkout, you agree that Vindraft will charge your card $29.95 every 28 days after the trial, until you cancel. We send an email reminder before the first charge, and again before each renewal.

You can switch to the $5.00 single-report plan at any time instead of starting a trial. Buying a single report never signs you up for automatic billing.

7. Cancellation

You can cancel your membership at any time. It takes one click, from your account page, or by emailing support@vindraft.com . You do not need to call anyone.
When you cancel, we stop future charges right away. You keep access to your membership, and any reports left in your plan, until the end of the period you already paid for. You will not be charged again after that.
See our full cancellation page for step-by-step instructions.

8. Refunds

See our full Refund Policy for details. In short: if this is your first refund request for a charge, email us and we will refund it, no long explanation needed.

9. Rules for using Vindraft

When you use Vindraft, you agree not to:

  • Use a report to make a decision about someone's employment, credit, insurance, or housing. Vindraft reports are not "consumer reports" under the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA) and cannot legally be used for those purposes.
  • Use Vindraft to stalk, harass, or track a specific person
  • Scrape, copy, or resell Vindraft's reports or data in bulk
  • Try to access another customer's account or reports
  • Use automated tools to run large numbers of VIN checks without our written permission

We can suspend or close an account that breaks these rules.

10. Report accuracy and limits

We pull from real sources and label anything we have not connected yet. Even so, no vehicle history report, from Vindraft or anyone else, can promise a complete history. Some states report slowly. Cash repairs and private sales are not always recorded anywhere.
Always get an independent mechanic's inspection before you buy a used car. A clean report is not a substitute for that.

11. Ownership

Vindraft owns the design, layout, text and software on vindraft.com. The underlying government data we show (like NHTSA recalls) belongs to the public and stays public. You can use a report you paid for, but you cannot resell or republish it as your own product.

12. No warranty

Vindraft is provided "as is." We do our best to keep the site working and the data accurate, but we cannot promise the site will never go down, or that every data source will always be correct or complete.

13. Limit on our liability

To the extent the law allows, Vindraft's total liability to you for any claim related to these terms or your use of the site is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim.
We are not liable for indirect damages, like lost profits, arising from your use of a Vindraft report.

14. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms as Vindraft changes. If we make a significant change, we will update the date at the top of this page and, where required by law, tell you by email. Using Vindraft after a change means you accept the new terms.

15. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Delaware, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Any dispute will be handled in the state or federal courts located in Delaware.
This section is a general statement, not a substitute for legal advice. If you have a legal dispute, please talk to a lawyer.
